  • What are the typical characteristics of an Interim Manger?

Interim Managers are experienced, energetic, highly qualified individuals with the skills and abilities to deliver an immediate and lasting impact. They are hands-on, pragmatic, senior executives with clear skill sets who will take on and implement specific tasks, working within your organisation as opposed to being an external, remotely located, advisor.

For our panel, InterIM Executives selects qualified and experienced people who can deliver results in a short timeframe, will think strategically, yet focus on the job in hand. They will have a track record of taking initiative, are organisationally aware, with excellent project management and communication skills.

Most of the Interim Managers selected by InterIM Executives have over 20 years of industry experience and have chosen Interim Management as a career path that enables them to deploy their knowledge, talent and experience across a variety of business environments.

  • How is an Interim Manager selected?

InterIM Executives has a carefully designed process and a register of exemplary Interim Mangers to ensure that clients will have a choice of 2-3 high calibre candidates to choose from. Potential candidates are presented in a shortlist format that includes details in terms of suitability, experience and costs.

  • What does it cost to engage an Interim Manager?

The usual model applied for Interim Managers is per day billing. The rate per day will vary depending on the level of the interim assignment, the interim manager’s experience, the tenure of the assignment etc. As approximate guidance, typical daily rates can be in the region of €600 to €900 per day (ex VAT).

Clients are only required to pay for the actual days worked by the interim manager. The client remains in control of costs at all times, by agreeing the number of days to be worked in advance and afterwards certifying the numbers of days to be invoiced.

  • How long does it take to select an Interim Manager?

Typically, InterIM Executives will produce a shortlist of 2-3 high calibre candidates within 7-10 working days of a client enquiry.  The Interim Manager can often be in place within a few days of being contracted for an assignment.  In exceptional cases, where necessary these timescales can be further reduced.

  • How long are Interim Managers usually engaged for?

The engagement period for Interim Managers varies but they are frequently engaged for assignments of 6-9 months in duration. During this period, the Interim Manager will work to deliver (or over-deliver) on a clearly defined set of tasks, handing over to the client in a managed way at the end of the assignment.

  • What happens if the scope of an interim assignment changes mid-stream?

The Interim Management model is highly flexible and adaptable. All changes can be handled in a managed way using a project-management based approach to ensure clarity for all stakeholders. If there is an impact on the original contracted period, this is easily addressed as the standard contract includes a provision for modifications to tenure, if necessary.

The added degree of flexibility and scalability that Interim Management delivered proved to be highly effective and the model became established in the U.K. in the 1980’s.
